TNTP Academy tuition $6,200 ($1,200 of total covers costs of Pre-service training.) The Special Education program costs an additional $1,500 to cover the second year of coursework.

Rigorous summer training program to prepare you for your first day in the classroom. You may have the opportunity to room and board at Marian University, covering meals with a student loan over the summer.
Marian University tuition $11,010 over two years
Tuition to earn a Master of Arts in Teaching or Master of Education in Special Education degree from Marian University. First payment is deferred and due in June after first year of teaching.
Laptop for PST and Marian University classes $300-$1000
A laptop is required for the start of PST. Once you are enrolled at Marian, you can receive a student discount on select brands.
Undergraduate/graduate degree transcripts Varies
Required to obtain an Indiana Department of Education Transition to Teaching Certificate. You must order your transcripts once for enrollment at Marian University, then again to send to the IDOE for your transition to teaching permit. Wait to order transcripts for your T2T until instructed by the program in late summer.
Fingerprinting fee $50-$100 (Approximately $50 for each fingerprinting application.
Marian University requires a background check with fingerprinting for each teacher entering the Transition to Teaching program. Individual schools will also request fingerprinting as part of the hiring process. Plan for two to three fingerprinting fees.
Testing CASA: $114
ACT: $60
SAT: $46
Pearson: $115-$145
Estimates for Pearson are costs per test. Some testing centers also charge a seat fee up to $50. CASA costs can be split by section, for $38 per section. All sections must be passed to enroll at Marian University.
Transition to Teaching (T2T) application fee $35
Paid at end of the summer.
Additional certifications (CPR & suicide prevention) Varies; about $45 total
Required for certification. You may have the opportunity to room and board at Marian University, covering meals and housing with a student loan over the summer.

Pre-Service Training Free
Rigorous summer training program to prepare you to begin teaching in the fall begins early summer.
TNTP Academy Tuition $5,500
Year-long licensure coursework. No licensure coursework tuition fees are incurred until after Fellows have been hired and begun teaching. Tuition is payable in monthly installments over the course of the school year.
Transcripts Varies; Contact your undergraduate institution.
Fellows should budget for the cost of purchasing three official and degree conferred transcripts from their graduating undergraduate institution. Transcripts are required for licensure and hire; unofficial transcripts are not accepted.
Fingerprinting Roughly $50-$200 depending on district or charter hire
Required for licensure and hire.
Testing $150-$270 for Praxis Core exam.
$120-170 for each Praxis II exam.
Costs are per attempt.
Fellows must complete Praxis Core or CBEST for enrollment. Praxis II can be taken during the first year of teaching.
Rent Roughly $700 to $1100 (median)/month excluding utilities and assuming a single person unit
Fellows are responsible for securing their own housing for pre-service training and the school year. A small number of single person dorms will be available through a local university partner on a first-come, first-served basis.
Salary $32,000-$40,900 base salary based on 2017-18 negotiated contracts for district hires or charter offers
Most Fellows will receive their first paycheck within the first month of employment and in most cases twice/month thereafter. Participants should prepare for 3-6 months of financial reserves to participate as a Nevada Teacher Corps Fellow.

PRE-SERVICE TRAINING $0
As a Fellow, your tuition will be covered 100% by Roots LA. In addition, you’ll receive a $2,500 stipend to help you cover your cost of living while participating in the program. You will receive the first half of the stipend at the end of the first week of training and the remainder when you successfully complete training.
CREDENTIALING $6,000-$11,000
You are also responsible for all costs associated with certification through the California Department of Education, including exams, fingerprinting, and transcript fees. Credentialing programs range from $6,000-11,000 per year. Roots LA and your future employer will work to support you with these costs through grants, loans, or scholarships.
FINGERPRINTING $25-$50
Roots LA Fellows must be fingerprinted and pass a background check prior to starting training. Fellows will be responsible for covering the associated costs. We will share more details about fingerprinting closer to the start of training.
TESTING $50-$400
Roots LA Fellows will be responsible for covering all costs associated with testing.
AVERAGE SALARY $48,000-$55,000
As a full-time employee of the district or network that hires you, you will earn the same starting salary as other first-year teachers in that district, which ranges from $48,000-$55,000. You will also be able to access the same comprehensive benefits as all new teachers in your district, including medical, dental, and vision and life insurance coverage.
