Finding a Teaching Position

New Orleans’ innovative all-public-charter school model has created an education atmosphere like no other, with limitless potential for ambitious educators. teachNOLA Certified Teachers will help you navigate New Orleans’ unique landscape every step of the way and get your resume in front of principals looking for experienced teachers.

Teachers are more successful when they work in a school that is a good fit for them. You will be responsible for leading your own job search to ensure that both you and your principal feel good about the match. Our staff will facilitate your hiring process and make connections to our school partners, but all hiring decisions are ultimately made by principals or other school-based administrators.

Although this may sound daunting, teachNOLA Certified Teachers will help you navigate the hiring process, sharing your resume with our partners schools and providing hiring resources to support your job search.

Salary and Benefits

Due to the autonomous nature of public charter schools in New Orleans, salary and benefits are competitive but vary widely from school to school. On average, a teacher with three years of experience can expect to receive a salary of $47,000.

All public schools in the city offer medical insurance and retirement plans, such as the Teacher Retirement System of Louisiana or 403(b) plans. New Orleans teachers enjoy an average of 56 days of summer vacation, plus public holidays, including a break for Mardi Gras.
