Since 2001, TNTP has trained more than 5,500 teachers working across Louisiana—from classrooms in Shreveport to New Orleans—affecting the lives of tens of thousands of students. We draw on this experience to evolve our approaches to meet Louisiana’s changing needs.
AN INNOVATIVE STRUCTURE
New Orleans is the first city in the country where all students attend charter schools, and Teaching Fellows can find their fit among dozens of high-performing schools. Most teachNOLA Fellows teach in and around New Orleans and Jefferson Parish.
A BROAD NETWORK
Both Teaching Fellows and local Teach For America corps members complete the same acclaimed TNTP Academy certification training, which has earned top ratings for effectiveness seven years in a row. With thousands of TNTP-trained teachers throughout the city, Fellows are likely to have helpful alumni in their schools.
AN ENGAGED CITY
Viewed as “grassroots and in touch with the city of New Orleans,” teachNOLA draws local Fellows and enjoys local support. “Everyone really believes in the city as a concept outside of geography and the commitment to education reform is inspiring. There’s so much heart here,” said Fellow Claire Anderson.
